Every business has a story people can see.
They see the finished plate, the packed market table, the full buffet, the labeled containers, and the food ready exactly when it was promised. But behind every polished moment is another story—the one written in dishwater, early mornings, heavy boxes, tasting spoons, inside jokes, tired feet, and people who step in and say, “What needs to be done?”
Easy Peasy Pantry may have begun with the two of us, but it was never built by the two of us alone. Along the way, an extraordinary group of people walked into our kitchen and became part of its rhythm. Some arrived with experience. Some arrived without knowing one end of the kitchen from the other. Every one of them brought something we could not have supplied ourselves.
This is their chapter of our story. It is a thank-you to the people who helped carry Easy Peasy Pantry forward—and who left their fingerprints on far more than the food.
Kathy
Our Behind-the-Scenes Extraordinaire
Every successful kitchen has someone working quietly behind the scenes, making sure the details do not become disasters. For Easy Peasy Pantry, that person is Kathy.
Kathy is our behind-the-scenes extraordinaire—the steady presence who helps keep the wheels turning, the loose ends tied, and the rest of us moving forward. So much of what she contributes happens away from the spotlight, but that does not make it any less important. In fact, it makes her one of those rare people whose work is often felt before it is ever seen.
She notices the details others overlook, lends a hand without needing to be asked twice, and helps carry the invisible weight that comes with running a growing business. Her support has given us room to focus, create, and keep pushing Easy Peasy Pantry forward, knowing someone dependable is helping hold things together behind us.
Kathy may work behind the scenes, but her place in our story could never be hidden. She is woven into the countless details that helped us get where we are, and we are deeply grateful for every bit of time, care, and heart she has given along the way.

Teresa
Better Known as Granny
Cassie’s mom, Teresa—our Granny—came into this journey with heart. She brought helping hands at exactly the moments they were needed, working tirelessly and expecting absolutely nothing in return.
What she did expect was for us to give this dream everything we had. No half effort. No backing away when the work became exhausting. She believed enough to help carry the weight, but she also held us accountable to the opportunity in front of us. We gave it our all because that was the only answer she would accept—and because her faith in us made anything less feel impossible.
Zephyr
Ready for Whatever Came Next
Easy Peasy Pantry was Zephyr’s first job, and from the beginning he brought the kind of optimism that makes a hard day feel lighter. He was always willing to do whatever we needed, which—if we are telling the truth—often meant tackling the dishes and carrying the heavy stuff nobody else wanted to move.
But Zephyr did much more than handle the work in the background. While he was helping us, he was building his own skills. We watched him become a confident cook with a real instinct for dressings and sauces. Before long, he could pull together some of the best to come out of our kitchen. There is something special about watching a first job become a place where talent begins to show itself, and we are proud that part of that growth happened with us.
Julibeth
From Compote Catastrophe to Market Guru
Talk about a workhorse. Julibeth came into our kitchen with zero cooking experience, and her first day gave us a story we will probably tell forever: the mixed berry compote disaster. It was a complete catastrophe. That is not an exaggeration. It is also proof that one rough beginning says absolutely nothing about where someone can finish.
Within a matter of weeks, Julibeth could carry out every aspect of the job. She learned quickly, worked relentlessly, and became someone we could trust with real responsibility. The ultimate proof came when we booked a catering job during a week we were away on vacation—and Julibeth knocked it out solo. That level of trust is earned, and she earned every bit of it.
She also became our number-one market guru, the person who understood the pace, the people, and the hundred small details that make a market day work. And if a pot needed salt, Julibeth knew it. To this day, we are not sure anyone who walked through our kitchen could taste for seasoning better than she could.
Lynne
Southern Sophistication and a Seat at the Table
Lynne and Cassie first worked together almost two decades ago, so when Lynne became part of the Easy Peasy Pantry kitchen, she brought history with her. She also brought the perfect Southern, sophisticated palate—the ability to taste something once and know precisely what it needed.
Her knife cuts are remarkably consistent, her kitchen talk is top-tier, and her attitude can change the energy of a room. Lynne has a way of making people feel at home simply by being near them. That gift matters in a kitchen. Skills keep the work moving, but warmth is what makes a group feel like a team. Lynne brought us both.
Rebecca
An Old Friendship and Fresh Ideas
Cassie and Rebecca went to culinary school together, and their friendship continued through Rebecca’s book clubs. When Rebecca joined our story, she brought that shared culinary foundation back into the kitchen—along with creativity, a positive attitude, and a willingness to do whatever the day required.
Rebecca was also the person who could bring a fresh foodie menu idea to the table and get everyone thinking in a new direction. That creative instinct should not surprise anyone who knows the rest of her story: Rebecca Barto is also a published author whose suspenseful, magic-threaded novels include Silverfish and Between Light and Night. Apparently one creative career was not enough for her.

Tracy
The Organizer Who Made Everything Lighter
Tracy came in without kitchen experience, but she learned incredibly quickly. Her organizational skills carried her far—and, more importantly, made the work lighter for everyone around her. A well-organized kitchen does not happen by accident. It happens because someone notices what needs a home, what needs to happen next, and what can be handled before it becomes a problem. Tracy noticed.
She also became our liaison with Duckett’s Produce, where she works as well, connecting Easy Peasy Pantry with one of our valued retail partners. Whether she was helping the crew behind the scenes or welcoming our clientele with a warm smile, Tracy learned how to do things the right way and made people feel cared for while she did it.
Whitney
Fast Hands, Sharp Eyes, and the Perfect Playlist
Whitney — Fast Hands, Sharp Eyes, and the Perfect Playlist
If you want something done quickly, Whitney is your girl. She came to us with kitchen experience, an amazing eye for detail, and the ability to move a job from “we need to do this” to “it is already handled” before the rest of us had finished the conversation.
Whitney can set a table or style a buffet better than anyone we have worked with. She understands that presentation is not decoration for decoration’s sake—it is part of how people experience the food. And because every kitchen needs a soundtrack, she also knows how to build the perfect playlist for the room, provided you are willing to embrace just about every kind of music. Whitney brought speed, style, and plenty of rhythm to our days.
Honorable Mention:
Sherri
Sherri, Julibeth’s mom, came because she wanted to learn, grow, and make all of our lives easier. She saw the mountain of dishes that follows serious kitchen work and chose to step straight into it.
There is no glamorous version of keeping a working kitchen supplied with clean dishes. It is repetitive, physical, essential work—and the whole operation slows to a crawl without it. Sherri understood that helping does not always mean taking the most visible job. Sometimes it means doing the job that allows everyone else to keep moving. We will always be grateful that she did.
More Than a Staff
When we look back, we do not remember only menus, markets, catering orders, or long production days. We remember who was standing beside us. We remember Zephyr carrying the heavy things, Julibeth turning a first-day disaster into expertise, Lynne tasting a dish and immediately knowing the answer, Rebecca dreaming up another menu idea, Tracy bringing order to the chaos, and Whitney making the whole room look—and sound—better.
We remember Granny showing up with heart and determination. We remember Sherri at the sink, quietly making the next task possible. We remember the laughter, the lessons, the pressure, the food that went right, and the occasional disaster that absolutely did not.
A business can have owners, but a story has contributors. Easy Peasy Pantry is richer because each of these people came into ours. They gave us their effort, their gifts, their patience, and pieces of their lives. In return, we hope they know this: their place in our kitchen will always be part of what we’ve collectively built.
