My late grandfather, JL Brown, always had German chocolate cake under a cake dome when we would visit because he baked all the time and this was his signature cake that he perfected! He would serve us a generous portion and we would eat every bite - served up with a side of Diet Coke to wash it down. To this day, when I eat German chocolate anything and/or drink Diet Coke, a flood of memories comes pouring in and I feel an immense amount of comfort and love from my precious Papaw Brown - that is the power of food.
